I am happy to announce that I have just been appointed BC Representative for the Glass Art Association of Canada! I am replacing Jill Allan, a well-known and well-loved staple of the BC glass community. Jill has left the position to pursue a Masters at Bowling Green in Ohio. I am looking forward to connecting with the BC glass community to represent my adopted home province. http://www.uascalgary.org/
http://calgaryculture.com/content/ampersand-3-collaborative-art-exhibition I will be showing Masculine and Feminine, a collaboration with Sarah Brownlee in &Ampersand 3. The show is at the new Untitled Art Society Satellite Gallery, located at 343 11th Ave SW in Calgary. It will run from 8 - 10 September, with the reception party on the 10th from 6 - 10pm. Sarah Brownlee is a very focused and informed woman, and an original thinker. Among other courses of study, she has taken Women and Gender Studies / Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan, and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Ceramics major from the Alberta College of Art and Design. She continued to make her way west to live in Vancouver, where she teaches ceramics and works as a glaze technician. I am very excited to collaborate with her. &ersand is a show that centres on collaborative works. The push and pull of different view points, the different skills that each artist brings, and the practices and processes of each artist creates a new and sometimes unforseeable result. Each piece will be a break from the artist`s individual style, and will surely be stimulating for the viewers and for the artists. |
